Welcome to Trans Joy

At the heart of our mission is a commitment to empower, celebrate, and strengthen the Trans community.

Our story began nearly a decade ago in a rented church space where we both played in a jazz band. Since then, we've built a friendship rooted in music, soccer, woodworking, flag football, and the shared experiences and perspectives that come with our different journeys as Trans men. That friendship became the foundation of Trans Joy.

Through our own journeys, we have experienced the profound power of being seen, supported, and connected to community. We know that representation matters. Visibility matters. Community matters. We also know that thriving happens when people have opportunities to build meaningful relationships, share knowledge across generations, and access the resources needed to create lasting success.

Trans Joy is a grassroots nonprofit committed to amplifying Trans voices and building community through connection, visibility, and celebration. Think of us as a free, mobile, intergenerational community center. We create, promote, and host events where Trans and gender-expansive people, along with our families, friends, and allies, can gather, connect, learn from one another, and experience joy together.

We believe in the power of community to rewrite the narrative around what it means to be joyfully Trans. By bringing together people of different ages, backgrounds, and life experiences, we create opportunities to share wisdom, foster belonging, and build stronger support networks. Through these connections, we help lay the foundation for collective flourishing, economic opportunity, and generational wealth for Trans and gender-expansive people and the families who stand beside us.

Our Journey: From Inspiration to Action

Trans Joy was born from conversations within our community about coming out, finding support, navigating life's challenges, and imagining what becomes possible when transgender people are able to see thriving examples of themselves in the world.

We recognized that one of the most powerful tools for change is visibility. When people encounter authentic stories, meaningful relationships, and positive representations of Trans lives, perspectives shift and communities grow stronger. We knew we wanted to help create those opportunities by bringing people together across generations and experiences.
